Driveways, patios & walkways

Concrete that looks like it did when it went down.

Standard, stamped and exposed aggregate concrete, plus pavers and retaining walls. Priced by the area we clean, not the size of your house.

What's actually on your driveway

Most of what darkens Okanagan concrete isn't dirt. It's a mix of algae and organic film that grows in the surface pores, tyre polymer that transfers off in summer heat, and — for the last few seasons — wildfire ash and fallout that has been rained into the surface.

That's why hosing it does nothing. The staining is in the top layer of the concrete, not sitting on it.

Surface cleaning, not wand-waving

We use a rotary surface cleaner rather than a hand wand. The difference matters:

  • No zebra striping. A hand wand cleans in arcs and leaves visible stripes where the passes overlap. A surface cleaner delivers even pressure across a fixed width.
  • Controlled pressure. Enough to lift the film, not enough to etch the paste off the aggregate.
  • Consistent finish. The whole slab ends the same colour, including the edges.

Stamped and exposed aggregate

These need different handling. Stamped concrete usually has a decorative sealer on it — too much pressure hazes or strips it, and then the whole slab needs resealing. Exposed aggregate has loose stone held in a paste matrix; aggressive cleaning pops stones out and you can't put them back.

Both get lower pressure and more dwell time on the cleaning solution. It takes longer and it's the only way to do it properly.

An honest note on results. Cleaning removes organic growth, surface film and general grime. It does not remove deep oil that has soaked into unsealed concrete, rust bleeding from rebar, or paint. We'll tell you what will and won't come out before you book, not after.

Sealing

We don't seal concrete. It's a separate trade with its own failure modes, and doing it badly is worse than not doing it. If your slab would benefit from sealing after a clean, we'll say so and you can bring someone in.

Common questions

Driveways — straight answers

Will this remove oil stains?

Surface oil, often. Oil that has soaked into unsealed concrete over years, usually not — it's below the surface we can reach. We'll look before booking and tell you honestly.

Is it safe on stamped concrete?

Yes, done correctly. Stamped concrete gets lower pressure and longer dwell time so the decorative sealer isn't hazed or stripped.

Do you need to use my water?

Yes — we connect to an outside tap. If your water is on a restriction schedule we'll work around it.

How long does a driveway take?

Most residential driveways are two to four hours depending on area and how heavy the staining is.
