Gutter cleaning

Cleared by hand. Downspouts flushed.

Not blown out and left on your lawn. Debris comes out by hand, downspouts get flushed and tested, and we confirm water actually goes where it should.

What a blocked gutter actually costs you

A full gutter doesn't overflow evenly. It overflows at the low point — usually against fascia or a corner — and it does it every time it rains. In the Okanagan that means water running down behind the fascia board all autumn, then freezing there through winter.

The repair bill is fascia, soffit and sometimes the wall behind. The prevention is a couple of hundred dollars once a year.

Hand-cleared, and the downspouts get tested

Plenty of operators blow gutters out with a leaf blower. It's fast, it's cheaper for them, and it pushes half the debris into the downspout — which is where blockages actually happen.

  • Debris removed by hand and bagged, not blown onto your beds and lawn.
  • Downspouts flushed with water and watched until they run clear.
  • Outlets checked so water is leaving the house, not pooling at the foundation.
  • Gutter faces wiped — the black tiger-striping down the outside comes off too.
  • We tell you what we saw. Loose hangers, separated seams, rusted sections, or a downspout draining against the foundation. We don't repair gutters, but you should know.

When to book

Once a year is enough for most Okanagan homes, and late autumn — after the leaves are down — is the slot that matters. Booking before the leaves have finished dropping means doing it twice.

Homes under mature deciduous trees, or with pine needles landing on the roof, are the exception: those often want spring and fall.

The FireSmart angle. Debris in gutters and on the roof sits in the Immediate Zone — the first 1.5 metres around your home — and it's exactly what wind-blown embers land in. Gutter clearing appears on BC FireSmart's list of recommended actions, and in some Central Okanagan areas the work qualifies for a rebate. Worth booking your free assessment before you book us.

Common questions

Gutters — straight answers

Do you clean gutters with a leaf blower?

No. Blowing gutters out pushes debris into the downspouts, which is where blockages actually form. We clear by hand and bag it.

When is the best time of year?

Late autumn, once the leaves are down. Doing it earlier usually means doing it twice.

Do you repair gutters?

No, but we'll tell you what we found — loose hangers, separated seams, a downspout draining at the foundation — so you can get it dealt with.

Can I add gutters to a roof booking?

Yes, and you should. It's $129 flat when booked with roof work, because the access and setup are already covered.
